The day March 21, 2011, was a Life Changing day & moment in general. Jimmy Button and a great group of guys headed on a bike ride to help raise money to cure Spinal Cord Injury. It was a moment never to be forgotten.
I couldn’t sleep Sunday night, though I was tired, but after I prayed because my mind wrapped easily around Monday morning’s activities. I didn’t know exactly what to expect considering being on the “actual road” is a different story than training on a stationary bike is a different story. It’s also not just as easy to just “hop in the saddle like a road bike.” But my training that Mike Keating put me through was a laugh at the ride; huge bummer he wasn’t able to make it to my ultimate goal because of my ankle bouncing and almost causing a soar. But my trainer is proud of me, I know it I my heart. He is very inspiring and he gets lots of inspiration from the trainee. He says “I have the heart of a Lion.” And possibly his hardest working persons he’s ever worked with.
To put these miles I put in with only arm strength was worth more than anything I can think of right now. Considering my injury was quite a bit more severe than those in this “brother hood.” I originally couldn’t move a single muscle, then 1 month I began to work my right arm and wrist but it took 8 months to even raise my left shoulder against gravity. I can use my right arm “some” and can help me push around in my manual chair but still no wrist function.
We completed a little over 4 miles and I started to get a low tire and then noticed I may be getting a soar. I was upset to say the least, though I didn’t show it, but it was perfect with the sun in my face and breeze through my hair. I had plenty left in the tank to go another hour or a little over. But my time was up. They said it was very inspiring but through my eyes happy with my performance but unhappy to not reach the ultimate goal of 50M.
But the message I am trying to get across; We gave/give our lives to this motocross world and there is no union for us. But that’s another book of debating so no reason to go there. Look at your phone bill and how much do you pay for ringtones per monthly/yearly? It all adds up, but instead of looking cool because Lil Wayne is your ringer for a month, consider texting BIKE to 85944 to donate $5 and be in a drawing to win a Josh Hill San Manuel 450cc Yamaha. You can also make a donation or get more info by going to www.milesformiraclestoday.com to find the Cure to Spinal Cord Injury. Let’s change the world for a better next generation. But it can’t just be one of us; United we stand, Divided we fall
Andrew Williams is a friend of mine from FaceBook. We have been friends for a while now, but Andrew suffers from autism.
Though he suffers from a condition he has no control over, he is all that and a bag of chips! He could make anyone smile on any occassion! Today, I'm meeting up with Andrew in Downtown Houston @ Discovery Green Park. I will do my best to get some photos up on jamesmarshallproject.com as soon as possible. But believe me, he will put a smile on your face just like he's about to do to me!
Indianapolis was a great event with great racing. It's always been good to me; as I made my only main event there. But, how about Ryan Sipes? He had pressuu but didn't crack. And that say's a Lot!
Then RV2 wins again! But BUBBA? Dang!! Through the fails and the falls, He has really shown maturity; in my eyes. He digs so deep and That is a CHAMPION. If someon wins the title, they earned it, cause he won't give it up. Cole Seely, Way to go bro!
Howw did we ever make it in the pre-historic days without texting? Thats like the flinstones being mad by the time they got home from a pedicure. Da, you pushed!!
What I'm saying is these days our technology is getting insane! Updating Faceebook, Tweeting; all these are mandatory and you're not cool unless you can do it from your cell! If you don't update one of the 100's of options 10x daily, it's, "where have you been?" Days are changing so much, so fast that it's hard to see where the world's headed.
Then the economy is down....but gas prices only are around $3.40 near me. Someone's gotta be getting some of it (money, of course). Heck, we can't fill our vehicles up to get to work and can't afford to job hunt. Each day this beautiful gift we were given changes, I just wonder what it is going to end up like.
Take care and wish you all an amazing & safe Spring Break!
